Transforming conflict into opportunities for connection and understanding

I support people, families, and educational communities in discovering new ways of understanding and relating to one another.

I am anke

I am a mediator specialized in conflict transformation within family and educational settings.

My work is grounded in mediation and NonViolent Communication (NVC), holding a space where people can truly listen to one another, deepen understanding, and find sustainable ways forward.

I am trained in Civil, Commercial, and Family Mediation, with a focus on family and educational contexts. My intention is to support processes in which differences can evolve into dialogue, mutual understanding, and meaningful agreements.

I speak German, English, and Spanish.

Originally from northern Germany, I have been living in Barcelona for over twenty years and am the mother of two children.

What is mediation?

Mediation is a guided process that supports people in transforming conflict into opportunities for understanding and collaboration.

In a safe and confidential space, all participants have the opportunity to be heard and taken seriously in their concerns.

The goal is not to win an argument, but to meet each other with respect, develop mutual understanding, and create sustainable agreements together.

Mediation is also a legally recognized process that allows for binding and lasting agreements.

What is NonViolent Communication

NonViolent Communication (NVC), developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, is an approach based on empathy, attentive listening, and awareness of both our own needs and those of others.

It invites us to communicate more consciously, transforming judgments, blame, and conflict into opportunities for understanding and connection.

NVC supports us in expressing our feelings and needs clearly, while listening to others with openness and respect.

Ways I can support

Family mediation

I support families in challenging situations or when tensions arise, creating a space where dialogue and connection can re-emerge.

Mediation for communities and organizations

I support educational settings and communities in developing a more respectful, empathetic, and collaborative way of relating.

NonViolent Communication

I offer talks and workshops based on NonViolent Communication to deepen communication, strengthen relationships, and support constructive conflict resolution.

How does mediation work?

The mediation process is structured and follows the pace of those involved.

The process typically includes the following steps:

1

Initial conversation

A first conversation to understand the situation, clarify questions, and explore whether mediation is a suitable path.

2

Mediation session

Participants meet in a safe space where each perspective can be shared and heard.

3

Dialogue and understanding

Through guidance and thoughtful questions, needs and concerns become clearer — and solutions can be developed together.

WHEN CAN MEDIATION HELP?

Mediation can be helpful when conflict, tension, or challenging situations arise in relationships.

It can be especially valuable:

  • when family relationships feel difficult
  •  when conversations become stuck or conflicts repeat
  •  in situations of tension within educational settings
  •  when misunderstandings arise between families and schools
  •  during times of change or important decisions

Mediation creates a safe space to pause, listen to one another, and discover new ways of relating.

HOW I WORK

I create spaces — in person or online — where all voices can be heard and respected.

I believe that the solutions already exist within the people involved; mediation helps to bring them to light.

My approach is grounded in listening, empathy, and respect — as the foundation for more conscious and cooperative relationships.

The process is guided by key principles:

  • confidentiality – everything shared is treated with care and respect
  • impartiality – I hold space for all perspectives without taking sides
  • voluntary participation – participation is always voluntary, and decisions remain with those involved

These principles create a safe environment for open and respectful exchange.
